windows create user account
To compliment this site and all the online computer tutorials on offer I have setup a computer help forum where you can go to ask your questions.
The list below will show you some of the the things you can do with your windows 7 operating system.
1, Firstly open the control panel if you do not know how to do this look here once in the control panel click on User accounts and you should see the same as the screen print below.

How do I create a user windows 7 user account ?
Click on Manage another account and you will see the same as my screenprint below. (with the exception the names will be different)

If you look in the above screenprint you will see it says Create a new account this will open up a new window. In the new window there will be a blank box where you are given the option to type in your usrname like in the screenprint below.

The Standard user is the account which is selected by default. Now just click on Create Account tab which is at the bottom of the window.The next time you start your pc the new account you just created will be one of the options on the start up screen.
How do I password protect a windows user account ?
When we created our user above we could then of put a password on that account which would protect our files from prying eyes. Lets say you have just gone in to the control panel for the first time. Now click on User Acounts.
Left click with your mouse on the username you would like to put a password on. This will open a new window which will give you seven Options as listed below.
1, Change the account name.
2, Create a password.
3, Change the picture.
4, Set up Parental Controls.
5, Change the account type.
6, Delete the account.
7, Manage another account.
You need to click on Create a password. you will then be asked to enter your chosen password 2 times.You will be given the option to a password reminder which is a hint to help you remember what your password is.You do not need to do this if you dont want to.Be warned the password hint can be seen by anyone who uses this computer.
What is the difference between a standard user and Administrator ?
A standard user has a limited account. They can not install programs or make changes to the pc. An Administrator can make all the changes he wants to the pc install new programs and remove them. He can delete other users accounts and so on.
How do I add a picture to my account ?
This is very simple you access the Control panel, go to user accounts and click on the username you would like to add a picture for. You will then be shown a list like below.
1, Change the account name.
2, Create a password.
3, Change the picture.
4, Set up Parental Controls.
5, Change the account type.
6, Delete the account.
7, Manage another account.
You need to click on Change the picture you will then be shown a new window which will have 36 different pictures to choose from.Left click on one of them and left click on Change picture.
Thats it !!
Well you can if you like choose a picture which is located on your hard drive. All you need to do is click on Browse for more pictures which will open up a new window so you can search your file system.
